We'll be holding a 50/50 drawing to raise monies for next season... Last year the winner walked away with over $300.00 and another $300 went into the clubs operating fund... We will present Driver trophies, pay the championships purse to all qualifying car owners (see rules for qualification requirements), and acknowledge some outstanding achievements of our 2008 Season. Our web master will be on site to set-up our Driver Profiles for next season. We'd like to take pictures of all the 2008 drivers in their Driver Suit, so please bring your suit to the banquet... And last but not least we will hold elections for the 2009 season Executive Board offices:

Adam Milsap driving the #88a picked up his 3rd $500.00 check of the season courtesy of our sponsors Quick Response Fire Protection, Ferguson Fire & Fabrication, and Integrity Building Corp after the feature win during our 22nd and final points race of the 2008 season at Canyon Speedway Park in Phoenix on Saturday October 25th 2008. Congratulations Adam! ! ! ! !
Adam had his sights set on making the only possible points change (in the top 5) in our last and final race of the 2008 season, by over taking the 2nd place driver points from the #8 Chad Fife. This goal was within reach knowing that Adam had beat Chad by an average of 160 over the last 3 non-wing races and only 135 points separated them going into the this race.
Adam quickly made up 50 points in the heat race by finishing 2nd (in the second heat) and Chad finishing 7th (in the first heat).
Only 85 points separated them going into the main event. The main event would start with Adam in 8th and Chad starting 19th, finishing in these starting positions would of sealed Chad's fate and allowed Adam to gain the 2nd place position.
Adam quickly bolted to the front early on and was leading the race with Chad running in 13th with half the race over. At this point in the race, Adam was assured his victory and the 2nd place driver points position. Chad needed a minimum of a top ten finish to hold on to his position. As the race neared the end Chad Fife driving his #8 Hyper was able to pick up 5 more positions allowing him to finish in 8th place and to pick up a total of 55 passing points (the most of the night) to make up the difference between Chad's 8th place finish and Adams victory. At the end of the night only 55 points separated Chad and Adam, making this one exciting night of racing....

After 21 races of our 2008 season our racers have taken home a total of $44,720 in prize money from both the race tracks and our club sponsors: Quick Response Fire Protection, Ferguson Fire & Fabrication, and Integrity Building Corp.
On top of the amazing weekly purse totals, the top 3 car owners will walk away from the 2008 AMMA banquet on Dec 13th with checks in the amount of $7,500 .00. 2008 Points fund top 3 payout....
1st Place - $3,000.00
2nd Place - $2,500.00
3rd Place - $2,000.00
Plus - each qualifying car owner will also walk away with their own check, 10 checks will be presented in total!
The grand total of car owner/driver earnings are estimated to exceed $57,000.00 for the season.
On behalf of the entire membership, and racing community, I would like to take a moment to thank both Dave Van Ess and Russ Martin for everything they have done to help support and grow the Arizona Modified Midget Associates not only with their continued financial contributions but with their thoughts and ideas to help make the AMMA one of the greatest racing associations in the country....
These contributions have helped support the growth and success of the AMMA and allowed us to pay unprecedented purses each race of the 2008 season.
This has truly been an amazing season, that would not have been possible without their support! ! !

Only 1 more race, I would like to encourage all of our racers to continue to support our last race season. I know it isn't easy but the more cars that race the better leverage we have to negotiate the purse and schedule from the tracks next season. Maintaining or growing our purse keeps more value in the equipment that we own. Plus it's a whole lot more fun! Look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday (10-25-08) At Canyon Speedway Park , for our last race of the season and Non-Wing to add a little more excitement. Lets have a great car count and show our Phoenix fans some great racing from the Arizona Modified Midget Association. |
